Delivery under Epidural Analgesia
Delivery under epidural analgesia is a method for delivering babies with almost no pain while the mother remains awake and alert throughout this time. An anaesthetist placed a mini catheter in lower back of body in epidural space near spinal cord. The drug is infused continuously till birth of the baby. Throughout this period, pain control is monitored, and dose is adjusted accordingly. Epidural analgesia numbs the skin from bellybutton to legs with almost no pain felt during delivery. As the pain is controlled, the lady becomes more corporative making labour more efficient. Generally, it is a safe procedure. In some cases, it may cause temporary low blood pressure and headache after the birth. In rare cases restriction of leg movement during labour.
Additional fees of doctor for Epidural Analgesia is Rs. 6000 for General Ward and Rs. 7000 for Private Room.
